We can now add Wildfire to another one of those promising companies acquired by Google. Wildfire Interactive is a social media marketing company that specializes in social media promotion across various popular social networks. Google has paid about $250m to acquire the business. Wildfire has a software that lets its customers manage their brands on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

Wildfire claims to serve around 16000 customers, including 30 of the top 50 brands. Here is what the company had to say about this move:

We believe that over time the combination of Wildfire and Google can lead to a better platform for managing all digital media marketing. For now, we remain focused on helping brands run and measure their social engagement and ad campaigns across the entire web and across all social services — Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn and more — and to deliver rich and satisfying experiences for their consumers. To this end, Wildfire will operate as usual, and there will be no changes to our service and support for our customers.

Based on what Wildfire has been doing, it should fit well within Google’s business model. Google is not done acquiring promising companies though. It will be interesting to see what Google does with the Wildfire team.
